Clinical bio

I’m Chad Stiles, PhD, LMFT, a licensed marriage and family therapist serving clients in Colorado, South Carolina, and Virginia. I specialize in working with couples who still care deeply about one another but have become caught in patterns of distance, defensiveness, mistrust, conflict, shutdown, or difficulty with intimacy. My work is particularly suited for relationships affected by sexual trauma, domestic violence, childhood adversity, military-related trauma, and other experiences that can change how partners communicate, connect, and feel safe with each other. Rather than treating either partner as the problem, I help couples slow down the pattern, understand what each person may be protecting, and find practical ways to rebuild trust and emotional safety. My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and solution-focused, with IFS-informed parts work woven into the process. My clinical perspective is also shaped by more than 13 years of non-clinical advocacy supporting survivors of sexual trauma and domestic violence. In addition to ongoing couples therapy (offered through telehealth), I offer focused two-day relationship intensives (telehealth and beachfront locations) for couples seeking more concentrated support.
