Clinical bio
Therapy should be a comfortable place to explore and heal without fear of judgement. No one knows your child like you. My role is to ask questions, provide support, and equip you with tools and resources specifically tailored to you and your child’s needs and unique situation. I incorporate games, books, toys and art in therapy to assist children in processing their experiences in a way that feels natural. I believe that families and children experiencing some of the most difficult times in their lives deserve the best treatments available. The evidence-based therapeutic approaches I use incorporate family strengths, are sensitive to family culture, and adaptable to align with goals you establish. Therapy for Children: I specialize in treating children ages birth to twelve who have experienced trauma, grief, separation and life transitions. These types of experiences can leave children feeling anxious, depressed or struggling with symptoms of trauma. I utilize Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address these symptoms. Therapy for Caregivers: Parenting is hard. Like, really hard. Parenting a child who has experienced a trauma or life stressor can result in caregivers feeling inadequate and at a loss for what to do. Supporting parents and caregivers improves treatment outcomes for children and teens. For that reason, all treatments have a parenting support component built-in. Parenting Therapy: There’s a lot of things people don’t tell you before becoming a parent. Sometimes, parenthood can bring up complicated feelings from childhood that impact the ability to parent the way you aspire. "I don't know how to not be like my parents", "Why did I just say that? I hated it when my Mom said those things to me", "I didn't want to be angry with my kids like my parents were with me". These are all examples of how your own childhood experiences can show up in your parenting. We’ll explore all this and how these things are shaping your child's experiences.
